There
were many events all over Florida honoring Veterans and their families
today. Decisions had to be made. Most of the members of the American
Legion Post 104 attended the ceremonies at Bay Pines in Pinellas
County. Others attended services at their post or others throughout the
county. Lowell St. Cyr "Saint" represented Post 104 at the ceremony in Bushnell. He was accompanied by Bob "rboff" and Charlie "Karaoketpa" of the St. Petersburg Patriot Guard Riders. |
|
We met at the Cracker Barrel in St. Petersburg and rode to the rally
point in Brooksville. On the way we noticed that there was a couple
hundred motorcycles at the rest area on the way. We were told later
that this was a group from Tampa who make the journey every year. We met up with the Patriot Guard in Brooksville where State Road Captain Clayton Murphy and his Road Captain Doc were assembling the riders for a final briefing |

Clayton gave a few final word of advice and told us that we would be pulling onto the apron of the on ramp and waiting for the riders at the rest stop to come by. Then we would join the main body of riders and continue on to the cemetery. Everything went off with out a hitch. Clayton and Doc have got this down pat now and we arrived without out incident. We pulled into the cemetery, 200+ strong and parked our mounts. |

A twentyone gun salute was delivered
by the Honor Guard and the event came to a conclusion. Our Fallen Heros were given great respect and full honors. It was a Memorial Day to remember and the showing of care and affection for our fallen veterans was evident everywhere. The Florida National Cemetery Joint Veterans Committee had done their job well and with dignity. |
|
When the ceremony was over the Patriot Guard Riders departed the area
and went their separate ways. Each waiting for their next call to the
next fallen Hero. |
